There was panic when a woman’s body tied up in iron chains was discovered outside a government school in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar on Friday morning. There were visible signs of torture on the body, which was also packed partly in a plastic bag.
Later in the evening, police identified the woman, who was apparently in her early 30s, and launched a manhunt for a suspect who was spotted wearing a turban in CCTV footage. The accused was apparently identified by the afternoon. Whilesources said that the man was detained by late evening, there was no official confirmationof this from the cops.
On whether the woman had been raped, a senior officer said, “Sexual assault will only be confirmed by an autopsy, which will be conducted on Saturday.”
The woman, the probe has revealed, was killed elsewhere and brought to the spot in a white Santro car. Two suspects, including the turbanned man, are seen in the CCTV footage. The woman’s limbs were tied with a chain and lock. The body was decomposed, indicating she might have been killed 24-48 hours before being found. According to police, the upper part of the body was wrapped in a big, black polythene bag
